Dr. Braden Giswold Dr. Chase Talbot

Dr. Braden Giswold

Whether it’s crafting beautiful restorations for patients who are suffering from dental decay or creating a comfortable environment where everyone can feel safe, Dr. Giswold remains a passionate and caring dentist near Whidbey Island – one who puts patients first.

He learned the ins and outs of dentistry by following in the footsteps of not only his father but also his grandfather and great-grandfather. While he was unsure about what to pursue early on, he witnessed the excitement his father expressed while working in the world of dentistry. His mother’s experience as a dental hygienist also gave him additional insight into what it’s like to work with patients.

While in college, he decided his future career needed to be something that allowed him to work with people and make a difference. Considering medicine and dentistry, he spoke to many healthcare professionals before deciding to continue his family’s legacy.

Having worked in his parents’ dental office during middle school and helping perform various tasks (i.e., pouring models, filing charts, etc.), he applied to the University of Washington School of Dentistry to earn his dental degree. From there, he traveled to Guatemala on mission before coming back and joining his dad at Saratoga Dental.

He took over the practice in 2012 and continues to pursue additional educational courses to hone and expand his knowledge. He has received advanced training from the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.

With multiple awards and residencies under his belt, including a TMD mini-residency at the Center for Occlusal Studies, a guided implant residency program at White Cap Institute, and a comprehensive orthodontic continuum, he strives to deliver exceptional results when working with every patient.

When he’s not busy at the office, you’ll likely find him with his wife, Molly, and their twins, Flo and Fox. As natives of the area, the two love the community of South Whidbey and are often biking, gardening, and visiting nearby beaches. Dr. Giswold also enjoys hiking and climbing as well as surfing, kiteboarding, and sailing.

Dr. Chase Talbot

Similar to Dr. Giswold, Dr. Chase Talbot spent a lot of time in the dentist’s office as a child. With a dentist for a father, he observed and even assisted his dad while at work, leading him to decide that he, too, wanted to work in the field of dentistry.

After working as a sterilization tech during his freshman year of college, he decided his future as a dentist near Whidbey Island was exactly what he wanted to be. Once he completed his bachelor's degree at Whitworth University, he attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry before completing his Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency.

From there, he joined the United States Navy, serving as a general dentist. After completing his time in the Navy, he practiced in Seattle before joining Saratoga Dental.

Since his years of formal schooling, he has remained eager to learn more about the field, pursuing continuing education courses on digital anterior esthetic dentistry. He also holds memberships in the American Dental Association and the Washington State Dental Association.

When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Talbot enjoys spending time with his wife, Zea, as well as his large, close-knit family. He also enjoys being outdoors and hiking, biking, backpacking, or skiing. You might even find him practicing his woodworking skills, repairing watches, reading hard science fiction, or watching the Seattle Sounders.

How We Make Dentistry Affordable

Whether you or a loved one is visiting for a routine checkup and cleaning or has developed a problem requiring a more complex treatment, our team near Whidbey Island can provide a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.

However, you might avoid scheduling an appointment if you’re concerned you can’t afford the required services. But our dedicated team believes that everyone deserves access to top-quality oral healthcare regardless of their current financial situation. Continue reading to learn more about how we can help you afford your next visit!

We Welcome Dental Insurances

Dental insurance can often be a simple and effective way to reduce out-of-pocket expenses. Most of these plans cover up to 100% of preventive services, such as checkups, cleanings, and X-rays. Then, they often include anywhere from 50% to 80% of additional procedures needed to protect and preserve your smile. But there are no guarantees, so it’s worth checking your information to verify your coverage.

Our office near Whidbey Island welcomes many traditional insurance plans, but does not participate with HMOs. With that said, we’re happy to file claims or paperwork on your behalf to help maximize your available benefits.

We Happily Accept Flexible Financing

If you don’t have a dental insurance plan, don’t lose hope! We know that some patients near Whidbey Island don’t carry a policy, and don’t want that to keep them from receiving top-quality services. That’s why we also accept flexible payment plans through CareCredit, which allow you to divide your total invoice into more manageable installments over a designated period if your application is approved.

These options typically come with little to no interest, and unlike traditional insurance, there are no waiting periods, deductibles, or other restrictions to meet. Plus, there are no hidden fees, surprise charges, or prepayment penalties to worry about!

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you do if you can't afford a dentist?

Over the years, dentistry has developed a reputation for being expensive. However, it’s neglect that’s really costly. After all, the more time that passes, the longer the root of the problem has to progress. So, the best thing for your smile and your wallet is to get in touch with our dental team near Whidbey Island when you first suspect that something is wrong.

With all of that said, we never want our patients to have to stress about the cost. That’s why we welcome several financial solutions, including CareCredit. This trusted third-party financier prevents you from having to pay the entire price upfront. Instead, you can break it up into smaller installments that fit comfortably within your budget.

What level of education is required to be a dentist?

The road to becoming a dentist entails 7+ years of schooling. The first step is obtaining an undergraduate degree and being accepted to an accredited dental school in the US. Then, they must complete three years of rigorous in-classroom and hands-on training to earn their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) degree. However, their training isn’t over yet. In order to maintain their license, dentists need to complete continuing education hours every year.

Some dentists go above and beyond, like our very own Dr. Braden Giswold. Since graduating from dental school, he has continued to hone his skills through advanced training, including completing the Core Continuum I-V Esthetic Physiologic Rehabilitation at the Las Vegas Institute!

How do I get emergency dental care?

If you’ve knocked out a tooth, one of your dental crowns is loose, or you’re dealing with a similar dental injury, then don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at Saratoga Dental. That way, we can assess the urgency of the situation and schedule a same-day appointment at our office. If that’s not necessary, then we will book a visit within the next few days and walk you through how to handle your dental injury in the meantime.

Important reminder: Potentially life-threatening symptoms, like uncontrollable bleeding and trouble swallowing, warrant a call to 911 or a trip to the ER.

How much does a dental checkup and cleaning cost in Whidbey Island?

Patients often assume that there is a flat fee for routine checkups and cleanings. In reality, there are several factors that need to be considered, including if you have dental insurance, if you need X-rays taken, and if you require nitrous oxide sedation to have the calm, positive experience that you deserve. With all of that said, you don’t have to worry – we won’t leave you in the dark about the price. In fact, we will provide you with an estimate and discuss the different financial solutions that are available, including dental insurance.
