Endodontic/Root Canal Therapy

Cavities or trauma to a tooth can cause it to become infected and very painful. The nerve can die, and swelling in the root canal and bone underlying the tooth can be horribly painful, and eventually can lead to spreading infections if left untreated.

Root canal therapy is a procedure that cleans the root canal of an infected tooth, removing bacteria that cause the infection as well as infected nerves and vessels. This allows you to keep your natural tooth in a pain-free, functional and esthetic manner.

We use the latest techniques to clean the canals of infected teeth using super efficient and flexible files made from a space-age material called nickel-titanium, with an electric rotary instrument. This technique allows us to perform root canal therapy in an efficient, effective, and safe manner.

A natural rubber material called Gutta Percha is then placed into the clean canal, sealing it off, and preventing bacteria from infecting it again.

A root canal treated tooth has no blood supply or regenerative cells and is unable to repair itself. For this reason, it is important to place a crown on many root canal treated teeth to ensure they don’t crack and that they will give you lasting function.
